Robert I. “Smitty” Smith, age 66, passed away March 14, 2013. Beloved son of Frank Smith (deceased) and Emogene Carothers (Phillips). He worked as a truck driver and furniture mover at Berman’s Moving and Storage for many years until accepting a position at Progressive Insurance Company as their Headquarters Move Coordinator where he worked until he retired. He enjoyed golf, football, and baseball, and was a devoted fan to all Cleveland and Ohio State sports teams. Smitty will be greatly missed by his children Rachel Smith (Ron), Adam Smith (Lisa) and grandchildren, Devan, Jenette, John and Dylan. Smitty was the brother to Frank Smith (deceased), Martella Short (Herbert), Dale Smith (deceased), Marsha Jeffries, and Becky Avino; and he was uncle, nephew, cousin and friend to many. A memorial service will be held Friday, March 22, 2013, 2-5 pm, at AVON COMMUNITY CENTER, NORTHGATE PARK, 2155 EATON DRIVE, AVON, OH 44135.
